another-elle asked: Do you know if there's a resource to help me find out which if any of the insurance plans available to me under Obamacare provide transition-related coverage? I'm fortunate enough to make decent money these days, so if I can pay a little more for a more trans-friendly plan, I'd be happy to, but I just can't find the information! I live in Chicago, for what it's worth.
There are only two resources we are aware of: http://out2enroll.org/ and this article are very useful. They may not answer all your questions though, and it may be best to either 1) call and request a full copy of the health plan you’re considering or 2) talk to a representative. We recommend doing both though, as sometimes representatives don’t actually know the correct information. Plans vary so much, it is really difficult to get details without going right to the source and asking specific questions.
Also, if you live in Chicago we suggest checking out Howard Brown Health Center for accessible healthcare. They use a sliding scale and also take insurance.
